Kiwanis International has recognized “Soles for Africa” as one of its most significant charitable service projects and honored the participants and volunteers with unique recognition at the 2013 World Wide Convention in Vancouver, Canada. High School Key Club members presented this project along with members of the Elmhurst Kiwanis Club.
We ship to three areas worldwide: Africa, western United States, and Haiti/Dominican Republic Soles for Africa was formed after a trip to Africa in 2008. Inspired by the shoeless journey many students take to school, Soles for Africa aims to make that walk safer, free from hazards and injury to their feet. A trip to South Dakota inspired Soles for Kids. Gently used shoes are sent to Native American reservations in the western United States. Several church missionary groups travel regularly to schools and orphanages in Haiti and Dominican Republic. We provide them with hundreds of free shoes, and they act as good will ambassadors - sharing shoes to kids in need as they travel abroad. Soles For Kids and Soles for Africa are divisions of Special Kids Day, an organization whose core mission is to help kids with disabilities. To learn more, please visit Special Kids Day.
